Norman Ronald (Ron) Cousins
November 5, 1922 - April 2, 2015
COUSINS, Norman Ronald (Ron) - Passed away peacefully at the Royal Victoria Regional Heath Centre in Barrie with family by his side on April 2nd, 2015 in his 93rd year. Beloved husband of the late Gerry Cousins. Loving father of Doug Cousins (Betty-Anne) and Jean Gray (Lionel). Proud grandfather of Andrew, Steven, Jennifer (Shane) and Todd. He will also be sadly missed by his sister Helen Murphy, nieces, nephews and friends.
Ron was born in Toronto, Ontario on November 5, 1922 to Pearl and Harry Cousins. He served in the Navy during WWII. After the war he returned to Toronto and married Gerry in 1946. They were happily married for 65 years. Ron's first job after the war was at the Royal York Hotel in their accounting department. He left the Royal York Hotel to work as a buyer at the Frigidaire plant in Leaside (Toronto). Frigidaire was bought out by GM and Ron continued to work for GM until 1980 when he retired after 31 years. He enjoyed his retirement years travelling with Gerry and spending time with his family and friends.
Ron's quiet personality, willingness to help others and deep love for his family will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
Cremation has taken place and a private Memorial Service was held on April 25th. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Lung Association at www.on.lung.ca would be appreciated. Online condolences may be made at www.mountpleasantgroup.com
