Nicola M. Kettlitz
May 2, 1962 - March 1, 2015
At his home in Atlanta surrounded by his loving family Nicola Kettlitz, President of the Coca-Cola Canadian Business Unit lost his battle with cancer. Nicola had a passion for Coca-Cola, the industry and the community. His larger than life personality had a positive impact on the lives he touched directly and indirectly.
Nicola began his career at The Coca-Cola Company in 1991 and remained a committed leader until his passing. Over his more than 24 years with the company he built a legacy as a leader, a mentor and a friend to colleagues in Canada and around the world.
He came to Canada as the General Manager of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Nicola had a vision for the 2010 Olympics and left a lasting legacy for the country, the City of Vancouver and for his colleagues. The 2010 Vancouver Olympic Torch Relay exemplified his dream of touching the hearts of Canadians leading up to the games. More than 12,000 Canadians carried the torch, including many Canadian colleagues and it stopped in more than 180 communities coast to coast.
His legacy has lasted well past the games in Vancouver through the partnership he created to support Vancouver’s inner-city youth. In addition to ensuring improvements to their recreation facilities there were more than 7,000 toques, scarves and vests made from the actual containers collected at the Olympic Games venues for the residents of the community.
Immediately following the success of the Vancouver Olympics he was named President of the Canadian Business Unit and remained President until his untimely passing on March 1st. In addition to his role at Coca-Cola he was also the Chair of the Board of the Canadian Beverage Association and a board member of the Breakfast Clubs of Canada.
Nicola will be greatly missed by the team in Canada, as well as his colleagues all over the world. His passion and commitment to the Company and his employees will leave a lasting legacy. He is survived by his wife Meg and their daughter Alessia.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to your choice of the following four charities;
Atlanta Hospice Center (Also under the name Visiting Nurse Health System)
Leukemia and Lymphoma Society
World Wildlife Federation (WWF) Canada
Breakfast Club of Canada
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 28th at 1 p.m. at the Mount Pleasant Visitation Centre, Mount Pleasant Cemetery, 375 Mount Pleasant Road, Toronto.
