It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Nicholas Ray Camilleri on June 11, 2026, at the age of 37.
Born in Brampton, Ontario, on June 2, 1989, Nik was a proud graduate of the University of Guelph, where he completed the Bachelor of Science Honours program in Biology. He went on to build a career in pharmaceutical quality assurance, where he was respected for his dedication, intelligence, and strong sense of integrity.
Nik was proudly LGBTQ+, and he lived his life with authenticity, compassion, and a commitment to lifting others up. He was a passionate advocate for environmental sustainability, small businesses, start-ups, and LGBTQ+ owned companies. He believed deeply in supporting others and using his voice to create a more understanding and inclusive world.
He found joy in connecting with people through food. Whether baking pies, sharing a favorite recipe, or preparing a meal for loved ones, Nik expressed his care through cooking. He never turned down dessert and was known for both his generosity and his unforgettable laugh—so loud and joyful that it could fill an entire room.
Nik's interests were as vibrant as he was. He loved X-Men, Marvel, vinyl records, Funko Pops, RuPaul's Drag Race, video games, travel, and discovering ways to give old things new life. He explored much of the world, visiting Europe, Australia, New Zealand, South America, Japan, China, Portugal, and beyond. Though naturally shy and introverted, he was fiercely protective of those he loved and was often there for others when they had nowhere else to turn.
Nik is survived by his loving parents, Edward and Donna Camilleri; his brother, Paul Camilleri; and his beloved dogs, Gambit and Beamer.
For many years, Nik courageously battled a serious illness. He worked tirelessly to educate others and reduce the stigma surrounding it. Though the illness ultimately took his life, it never diminished his kindness, compassion, or determination. He fought bravely for as long as he could.
He will be remembered for his generous heart, his humor, his pies, his advocacy, and his laughter. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CAMH in Nik's memory.
