Born on June 1, 1943 in Beirut Lebanon, he was the son of Salim Mourawed and Dora Taweel. While in Lebanon, he was a theatrical actor and appeared in movies in Beirut cinemas. He invited Alice to a live performance and the two became inseparable, marking the the start of their life together. Shortly after marriage, they opened a knitwear boutique where they handmade and sold sweaters for men, women, and children.
He immigrated to Canada in 1976 with Alice and 6 year old daughter Mona.
After arriving in Canada he worked as a bartender, then as an airport limousine driver and later became a restaurant owner. In 2010 he proudly celebrated his daughter Nadia’s admittance to the Bar, and greatly enjoyed having a personal lawyer.
One of his favourite hobbies was surfing the internet on his iPad and connecting with his many friends on Facebook. His greatest joys were spending time with his family, relatives and friends. During the Canadian winters it was having his favourite meals on Saturday nights enjoying Hockey Night in Canada. In the summers it was his weekend bbq’s particularly enjoying his backyard pool. He also cherished celebrating his girls birthdays at different restaurants in the city, and ringing in each New Year with a party hat and good wishes to all.
He was a kind, calm, pensive, and gentle man of very few words and loved quaint social gatherings. He lived a full life, marked by his love and dedication to his family, and will be dearly missed.
