Myrtle Annie Onofreychuk (née Condell)
April 14, 1935 – April 28, 2025

The Lord has gained an angel — though one with an Irish attitude and a mischievous streak you’d best not underestimate.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Myrtle Annie Onofreychuk, who left us on April 28, 2025, at the age of 90.

Born on April 14, 1935, in Belfast, Northern Ireland, Myrtle brought her sharp wit, generous heart, and unshakable sense of humor to everyone she met. She leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and a fight that was nothing short of extraordinary. Her courage to live — and live fully — never wavered.

For just shy of 67 beautiful years, Myrtle was the devoted wife of Michael Onofreychuk. Together they built a life full of stories, strength, and family. Their enduring love, a true testament to devotion and partnership.

Myrtle approached motherhood with grace, strength, and boundless love. She was a guiding light and a constant source of wisdom and comfort, always putting her family first and making each person feel uniquely cherished. Her home was filled with warmth, laughter, and the kind of steadfast presence that could calm any storm. She was the proud and deeply loving mother of Gerry (Louise), Carole, Linda, and Patti (Ward).

Her nurturing spirit and unwavering support shaped not only her children’s lives, but also those of her grandchildren. Myrtle was known as “Nana” to Melissa, Tara, Jaclyn, Raychel, and Paige. She is predeceased by her beloved grandson Tyler, whose memory she carried in her heart always. Her role as "Nana" was one she wore with joy and pride — a title made even more special with the arrival of her great-grandson, Michael.

Fierce at the bingo table and quick with a deck of cards…Myrtle had a deep love for bingo and cards — and if you dared to play without knowing the rules, you’d hear about it for the rest of the evening. Her playful competitive streak and love for laughter made every family gathering unforgettable.

Myrtle’s legacy is one of love, loyalty, laughter, and a life well lived. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered by all who were lucky enough to know her.

A service will be held in her honor on Wednesday May 7, 2025 at Pine Hills Cemetery & Funeral Centre 625 Birchmount Rd. Viewing at 10am service at 11am, light refreshments to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to deal a hand of cards, raise a glass, and remember Myrtle — but no cheating…She’ll be watching. Or please consider making a donation to Diabetes Canada in Myrtle’s honour.
