Muriel Evelyn Moody, age 106, of Scarborough, Ontario, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2026, in Owen Sound, Ontario, with her son Brian by her side.
Muriel embraced life fully and joyfully, cherishing every moment of her 106 and a half years. She was born on July 20, 1919, on Woodbine Beach in Toronto to Walter Harold Harvey, who passed in 1976, and Elsie Emilia Osborne, who passed in 1988. Both were originally from Coventry, England.
Muriel grew up in East York and held fond memories of her childhood near the water. She loved growing up on the beach, building cars in the sand, and watching the horse races from her window. These simple pleasures stayed close to her heart throughout her life.
Muriel shared her early years with her siblings Ronald and Doris. She was also preceded in death by her baby sister, Betty, who passed away at just six months old. These early family bonds remained part of Muriel’s story throughout her life.
Muriel was predeceased by her husband, Stanley Gordon Moody (1987), and by her beloved daughter, Jean Hollinsworth (2022). She is lovingly remembered by Jean’s children, Mona, Dana, Jackie, and Gordon.
Muriel is survived by her son Brian, daughter-in-law Theresa, and their children Samantha and Hayley, and by Hayley’s partner Jay, who held a very special place in Muriel’s heart. She is also survived by her son James (Jimmy), daughter-in-law Jeannette, and by Roslyn, the mother of Jimmy’s children, April (Mark) and Mandy (Tristan).
Muriel is lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren:
Grandchildren: Mona Hollinsworth (A’Hern), Dana Hollinsworth, Jacqueline Hollinsworth (Almeida-Dixon), Gordon Hollinsworth, April Moody, Mandy Moody, Samantha Moody and Hayley Moody
Great-Great-Grandchildren: Matthew’s child, Colton, Violet and Rowyn
Muriel will be remembered for her long life, her deep family roots, and the many generations who carry her love forward. Muriel is missed, but will never be forgotten.
