MINEGISHI, Miyo passed away peacefully in her 101st year in her home on Saturday July 5, 2025.
Predeceased by her husband Masayei (Ted) in 1984.

She is survived by her son Don, daughter Arlene (Don Milnes), granddaughter Jen (Mike), and great grandchildren Sofia and Liam.

Miyo was born on a farm in Haney B.C. in 1923 to parents Yoshitaro and Haruno Horiuchi. Miyo was the eldest of 5 children. Survived by sister May (Butch), predeceased by sisters Akemi (Bob) and Kazuko (Ike) and brother Yoshi.

Like many Japanese Canadians during the war, she was interned in Lemon Creek with her family. After the war the family moved first to Clarkson Ontario then to Toronto where she eventually met and married Masayei (Ted) Minegishi in 1948.

After raising the family, Miyo worked for Nu Mode dress company for over 20 years. Retiring in 1991 she kept busy by volunteering at the local community centre and taking quilting and line dance classes. She also traveled extensively taking several cruises.
