Mimie (Marie-Thérèse) Robin, 82, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on the evening of July 1, 2015, with the sound of fireworks escorting her on her journey.

Mimie was born on July 23, 1932, to Maria (Pauline) and Henri (Joseph) Robin in Aizenay, France. She immigrated to Canada in 1969 and immediately adopted Canada as her permanent home, becoming a Canadian Citizen in 1978. In addition to her dedication as a mother and homemaker, Mimie was an excellent teacher, having imparted the love of the French language to many people young and old. Mimie was an active member in many congregations and spent a great deal of time offering care and compassion to those in need at the Cooksville Care Center, E.C. Drury School for the Deaf, and finally as a pastoral care lay visitor at the Mississauga Hospital until her retirement.

Mimie was always quick to share her infectious smile. She was a great sport enthusiast with particular affection for her beloved Leafs, Formula One racing and the Olympic games. She loved spending time outdoors enjoying nature’s great offerings which she often captured through the lens of her camera. She took great pride in listening to and sharing the accomplishments of her 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandsons.

Mimie is survived by her two cherished daughters, Betty (Julian) Roberts of Mississauga and Cathy (Chris) Metcalfe of Oakville, much-loved daughter-in-law Karen Parmentier of Ajax, as well as her treasured grandchildren Jenny, Kyle, Jessica, John, Maegan, Annie, Mallory and Nadene, and great-grandsons Connor and Benjamin. She is also survived by her brother Jeannot (Annie) Robin, sister-in-law Marie-Madeleine Robin, and many nieces and nephews around the world. She will be dearly missed by her close friends Simone, Peter, Joan and David.

Mimie is pre-deceased by her beloved son Phil, her siblings Riquet, Marcel and Lucienne, and her children's father John.

A special thank you to Bev and Judy who shared so many special visits with Mimie, as well as the wonderful staff at Peel Senior Link at Hillside Place in Mississauga who allowed Mimie to continue living independently for so many years and the fantastic care team at Allendale Long Term Care Facility who while only knowing Mimie for a brief time treated her with exceptional care and kindheartedness.
