Bob left this world on December 29 at his Toronto home after a final brief illness. He is survived by his beloved partner, Rick Asals and his former wife, Sheree. He was a devoted father to Andrew (Kimberly) and Maura (Gregg) and the proud grandfather of Madeline, Marcus, Adele and Neil. He also played an active role in the lives of Rick's children– Katharine, Sarah (Patrick) and David (Jennifer) and grandchildren Benjamin, Nolan, Danica, Logan and Cooper.
Born in Perth Ontario in 1944, Bob exhibited a love of learning from an early age. He earned a B.A. in English from the University of Ottawa and an M.A. from Western University, specializing in Chaucer. His illustrious career in education began in Kent County. He was esteemed in Dufferin County as a teacher and a high-school principal. Students from more than one generation were inspired by his creativity, enthusiasm and love of excellence. He was remembered fondly by colleagues and positively impacted many careers in teaching and administration.
Bob was not simply a man of letters. He was also an avid skier and a determined gardener. He renovated heritage houses in Mono Township and Meaford. In his retirement, he continued to develop his life-long passion for theatre, music and travel. He also took great pleasure in entertaining friends and family with wonderful home-cooked meals and interesting stories.
