Michael was born in Calcutta India to Ann and Richard de Dombal. He was the second of three children. His sisters were Pamela and Violet.
At the early age of five he taught himself to play music. First he had a penny whistle and then on to clarinet.
Michael attended primary and high school at Don Bosco School, Lilluah,Calcutta achieving in final year the second highest mark in the State of West Bengal in his Senior Cambridge exams.
Michael moved to Kharagpur to pursue a four-year apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering after which he moved to Calcutta. He secured a post as a Draughtsman in Pump Design for MacNeill and Barry.
During his years in Engineering he met and married Audrey and they had two daughters, Michele and Ann. They recently celebrated 65 years of marriage.
Michael and Audrey immigrated to Canada in 1965 at which time he worked at SA Armstrong as a Mechanical Engineer. He also worked as a professional musician at night.
Moving to Montreal in 1967, he pursued a career in music full time. Michael's passion was his music and he was blessed to have done it for 70 years until his passing here in Toronto.
He was blessed with many, many talents playing several instruments including clarinet, saxophone and piano. He had a wonderful tenor voice. He also enjoyed cooking, gardening, drawing and travel.
He was a warm, caring, nurturing man, a loving husband, a father and a wonderful friend. He is survived by his wife, his daughters, brothers and sisters-in-law, eighteen nieces and nephews and twenty one grand-nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Craiglee Nursing Home, especially to the 2nd floor PSWs and Nursing Team for their kindness and dedication.
Friends will be received by the family between 1.00pm and 1.30pm on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at Pine Hills Funeral Centre located at 625 Birchmount Road, Toronto Ontario, M1K 1R1.
A service will follow at 1.30pm. There will be a link for livestream.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to Scarborough Health Network or to a charity of your choice. Spread some love around !
