Michael Harold Quinn was born in the small town of Campbellton, New Brunswick on September 13, 1944 to Charlotte Quinn (Stewart) and Joseph Quinn.
Mike was a man driven by a sense of adventurous curiosity: of the world and the one beyond it. He found himself in Vietnam as a Canadian fighter in his beloved US Marine Corps, working up to the rank of a Lance Corporal, earning an honourable discharge after the war. He later travelled to Africa, stunning the locals and beggaring belief that anyone would want to play tennis in the hot African weather.
Mike was a 31 year veteran of the Toronto Police Services, known for his memorable and mischievous personality, and his many public accolades to the community that he humbly served.
He spent his retirement supporting the Mississauga Symphony Orchestra through his considerable book knowledge at the Mississauga Symphony Book Sale. He continued to smash tennis balls against any wall he could find until he was diagnosed with stage IV esophageal cancer in February 2025. He was given 3 months. He defied the prognosis and lasted a year. Like all the challenges he faced in his life, he met this one with the determined stubbornness he was known for, even when chemo was no longer a safe option.
He was a complicated and thoughtful man. He could be deeply kind and, at times, very strict and old-fashioned. But he also had a way of remembering a wistful comment and somehow, almost magically, finding the right gift at the right time.
He is survived by his wife Sheri, his three children Christopher (Raluca), Kimberley, David, his grandchild Aidan, and his two sisters Margaret and Susan and many wonderful cousins
