Deineka, Michael Faustino-With remarkable courage, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2012 in Toronto. Michael, beloved husband of Iain McIlveen. Loving father of Mike Jr. and his wife Josie, and Chris. He will be sadly missed by Iain’s family in Cheshire, England and by his many friends in Toronto, Scotland, Australia, the U.S.A and around the world. Michael was a consultant professor for the North York Board of Education, York University and the University of Toronto. He was a part of the Transplant Mentoring Program as he was a recipient of a heart transplant 23 years ago. Michael was awarded the Greer Award for accomplishments in education in Ontario. His charismatic personality and wonderful sense of humour attracted countless friends along the way and created many memories. Born in Matanzas, Cuba on February 15, 1940 to Miguel and Sofia, Michael attended school in Havana and immigrated to Canada when he was 11 years. He furthered his education by obtaining a degree from the University of Western Ontario. Friends may visit at the Mount Pleasant Visitation Centre, 375 Mount Pleasant Road (east gate entrance) on Friday, August 3, after 4 p.m. followed by a celebration of life in the chapel at 4:30 p.m. On-line condolences and donations in lieu of flowers may be made by following the links on this website.
