With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Melissa Levin, beloved life partner of 19 years to Nina Levitt. Sister-in law to Sydney Anne, Alan (Isabel), John (Margie) and (late) Lisa Levitt, and parents-in law Rosabel and (late) Monty Levitt.
Cherished daughter of Doris and (late) Morton Levin, sisters Mindy (Wes van Cott) and Frayda (Ken Levy), (late) brother Bill (Sally O’Brien) and (late) sister Jackie (Arieh Shani).
Inspiring aunt to Julia Levin, Sigal, Lilach, Advah and Shachar Shani, Sara Levitt, Ellen & Laura Joyce. Great aunt to Maya, Orin, Sela, Aviv, Maayan.
Adored by her cousins Janna and Zoe Levitt, Dean Goodman, Maurie, Bryna and Jordan Levin and the rest of the Levitt and Levin families.
Dearest heart friend to Susan (Sir Sanford) Fleming, Billee Laskin, Anita Shack, Freddie Towe, Shira Spector, Leslie Chudnovsky, Susan G. Cole, and many many others.
We are so grateful to her doctors Jeannie Callum and Yasmin Ikizler, and all the dozens of nurses who cared for her at Sunnybrook Hospital and Dorothy Ley Hospice.
On this journey Melissa, and Nina, had unending guidance, support, wisdom, healing and love from Barbara Brachi, Anita Shack and Jay Tropianskaia and many others in the Sweet Medicine Sundance Path community.
Funeral Service will be held Friday October 30 at 1:00 PM, Mount Pleasant Visitation Centre, 375 Mt. Pleasant Road, Toronto. Shiva details: Following interment join the family for Shiva at the Mount Pleasant Visitation Centre, 3:00-5:00pm. Shiva continues Sunday & Monday at the family home from 3:00-5:00pm and 7:00-9:00pm Evening prayers at 7:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Melissa Levin Emerging Artist Program of the Textile Museum of Canada by contacting support@textilemuseum.ca (416-599-5321 x2246) or make a contribution to the good work done by Partners in Health, http://pihcanada.org because health care is a human right and Melissa was fortunate to have had the best care.
