Mati was born in Toronto to Aleksander and Milvi Truman. He is survived by two siblings, sister, Liia and brother, Arvi. He was a son, brother, friend and confidant.

He lived his life boldly, had an adventurous/free spirit and embraced life. He found joy in the simple things and his kindness touched us all. Mati was a social person, enjoyed having long conversations, possessed great awareness, had an infectious laugh (always with a mischievous twinkle in his eye), could light up a room with his presence, and had a very charismatic personality.

His two passions were music and buying and refurbishing cars from the 1960-1970's. He could tell you the make/model, all specification, and was an artist in automotive bodywork.

He worked as an electrician, was a master in drywall in the construction industry, helped his Father build our family cottage in Udora, Ontario, and even built log cabin cottages north of Haliburton, Ontario.

Mati had a strong sense of Faith, Family and Friends. He had a knack for making people feel comfortable.
2014 he sold his condominium in Toronto and bought a house in Havelock, Ontario, where he also bought a 1928 Whippet.

2021 he moved back to Toronto as his physical body was starting to fail him. The last years he suffered from the pains of cancer. Mati passed on June 1, 2026, and is now free of pain and at peace. His earthly suffering has ended - his spirit is free and lives on in our hearts and memories.
We lost a good person too soon. Today we honor and celebrate his life.
