Born Mary Buchan on February 21, 1924, in Toronto to William and Henrietta Buchan.
Oldest of 4 children, she grew up in Markham. After school she joined the Canadian Women’s Corp. and shipped out to England in 1943 during WW II where she drove an ambulance and a jeep.
She met Stanley Jarvis (deceased) prior to the War and returned after to marry him. They raised 4 children: Barry (Helen), Karen (Steve), Dennis (Cathy), Steven (Mary).
She had 12 Grandchildren and 15 Great Grandchildren.
Mary enjoyed travelling with Stan with their Motor Home. Together, they saw all of Canada and the United States. Enjoying the people and scenery along the way. Bowling was a popular pastime, and she was famous for her homemade Butter Tarts. She will be missed for her assertive opinions and great conversations.
The family would like to thank the Nurses and Caregiving Staff at Sunnybrook Veterans Residence (where she resided for the past 10 years) for the excellent care provided.
Mary Jarvis passed away on January 3rd, 2026, at the age of 101.
