It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Marta left us peacefully on July 22, 2025 after a life filled with love, resilience, and unwavering devotion to her family.
Born in the former Yugoslavia, Marta was the cherished wife of the late Luka, with whom she shared an extraordinary 70-year marriage. Together, they built a life rooted in love, perseverance, and deep family values.
She is survived by her loving children, Nada and Darko; her adored grandchildren, Amanda and Stephanie; and her treasured great-grandson, Luka. Her family was her greatest joy and lifelong passion.
A woman of remarkable strength, Marta faced life’s challenges with courage and grace. After losing her mother at a young age, she learned to navigate the world on her own growing up; raising two young children while her husband was working, with the vision of one day finding a better life- In 1966 that dream became a reality -Immigrating to Canada without speaking English, she embraced the “sink or swim” reality with determination, becoming a hardworking and inspiring figure to all who knew her.
She found joy in life’s simple pleasures—walking, sipping coffee, watching planes at the airport, and admiring Canada geese. Though she wasn’t always fond of dogs, she grew to love the family pets, showing her ever-expanding heart.
To her family, she was a hero. She did it all—with strength, love, and quiet wisdom. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the lessons she taught through her actions.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Diabetes Canada in Memory of Marta.
