After a long life lived to its fullest, Marion, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully surrounded by those she loved at The Royal Victoria Hospital, in Barrie, ON on September 9, 2025.
Marion was born on April 3, 1930, and grew up in Toronto, the daughter of George and Edith Scaysbrook, the youngest of three, and the only girl. Her mother’s sister, Jess and her husband Harry Marlow also had three children Eileen, Marjorie and Frank, and the cousins spent many of their early years together and remained close their entire lives. Marion was the last surviving child of both sisters.
Marion experienced life “her way”, traveling the world with her husband, William (“Bill”) H. Robinson. And yet, one of her favorite things to do later in life was to be at home with Bill, enjoying their Friday night cocktail hour and dinner together. She was an avid NFL football fan and had hoped her beloved Bengals would win the Super Bowl just one more time before she died. Marion’s daily companion was her cherished cat, Jasmine, who will miss her dearly.
Marion is survived by her daughter, Sandra Elizabeth Bell (Gerard Donnelly) (Rye Brook, NY) and her grandsons, Justin Alexander Donnelly (San Francisco, CA) and Ryan Christopher Donnelly (New York, NY). Marion was also survived by her brother Alan’s daughter and beloved niece, Sue Ironside (Derry), her great-niece, Vanessa Palmer (Jason) and their two sons, Jackson and Crosby, who Marion loved like her own great grandchildren, and her great-nephew, Drew Shankman (Briana Havey), and their two children, Benji and Lyla. Marion is also survived by her brother Edward’s children, Peggy and Craig.
Marion is stepmother to her husband Bill’s children, Denise Gravatt (Scott), Linda Robinson and Greg Robinson (Robin) and step grandmother to Jill and Jacob Robinson.
Marion was also a special “aunt” to, and survived by, her cousin Eileen’s three children, Martha Solomon (David), Lisa Rogers (John) and John Rogers (Sherrida). She is also survived by her cousin Frank’s wife, Norma, and their children, Nancy, Teddy, Cindy, Caroline, Jamie, and Julia.
Marion’s life-long and cherished friend Charlene Guardhouse (Barry Holmes) also survives her. The two friends were born only months apart and have been close friends since grade school.
She is preceded in death by her first husband, Alexander James “Jim” Bell (April 2016), their daughter, Amanda Bell Firestone (1990) and by her husband, William (Bill) H. Robinson (April 2016). Marion was also predeceased by her parents, George and Edith Scaysbrook, her two older brothers, Alan Scaysbrook and Edward “Ted” Scaysbrook, her nephew and brother Alan’s son, Kevin, and her cousins, Eileen, Marjorie and Frank.
A celebration of her remarkable life will be held Saturday, November 1, 2025. For those who cannot attend in person, Livestream of the Service will begin at 10:45 am. To view go to Marion's webpage at 10:45 am. On the top of the main webpage there will be a long blue line stating, "Click Link to View". In lieu of flowers, donations in Marion’s memory can be made to the Canadian Red Cross, with a special acknowledgement of the Barrie Red Cross, who were such a help to her over the years.
