With immense sadness we announce the passing of Marilyn Chopyk, daughter of Walter and Muriel Harman, sister to Shirley and Wayne, eternal soul mate to Walter, her husband of 73 years. Beloved mother of Lorraine (Gary) and Stephen (Marie). Cherished nana to Nicole, Michelle (Michael), Danielle (Albert), Renee (Alex), Kylar and Hannah. Great grandmother to Luca, Julia and Marlow.
Marilyn grew up on the Danforth. She had fond memories as a child helping her dad deliver bread by horse and carriage on the weekends. As a teenager, dance halls and roller rinks became her places to be.
Music played such an important role in her life. She spent countless years performing with the Yorkminstrels theatre group and later the Scarborough Village Singers.
Marilyn and Wally travelled the world together, and inspired their children to do the same. Cruising became an annual event, with the trade winds of Hawaii always calling them back.
Mom lived life with a passion and exuberance that was infectious. She warmly welcomed all to her home offering kindness, laughter, generosity and much love. Her love for her family was remarkable.
She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. A memorial celebrating Marilyn’s life will be held at Pine Hills Cemetery and Funeral Centre on Sunday, September 27 from 1-3pm.
