It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Marika Fiotakis, at the age of 87, on February 27, 2026.

Marika was the heart and foundation of her family - a devoted mother and grandmother whose love knew no limits.

Born in Greece, Marika carried her heritage with immense pride. She embodied the strength, resilience, and deep-rooted family values of her homeland.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Jim Takis of Los Angeles, California and George Fiotakis (Lorraine Engel) of Mississauga, Ontario. Marika’s joy multiplied through her two grandchildren - Lauren Fiotakis of Chicago, Illinois and Ryan Fiotakis of Toronto, Ontario - each of whom she adored beyond measure.

Throughout her lifetime, Marika was able to display her extraordinary strength, determination and love. Despite all odds, and as a single mother, she raised her two children with fierce love and determination, putting their needs in front of hers at all times. She became a successful entrepreneur and her entrepreneurial spirit rubbed off on both her children as well.

Marika also fully embraced the love of her religion. She became a major benefactor of a new Greek church in Mississauga, Prophet Elias Greek Orthodox Church. She would spend countless hours maintaining and cleaning the church simply for joy and love.

Known for her pleasant demeanour and her silent philanthropy, Marika's presence was a blessing to all who knew her, and her absence leaves a void that can never be filled. Yet her love, her traditions, and her strength will continue to guide her family for generations to come.
