With heavy hearts, we announce the sudden death of Marguerite Charlotte (Brown) Strama of Toronto (age 94 years) on Wednesday, March 9, 2016. Marguerite was the wife of the late John F. Strama (dec Feb. 2, 1971). She leaves behind her daughters Melinda Ann Cornfield (Cliff dec Nov 8, 2014) and Margaret Darlene Otte (Lutz) of Germany and her grand-daughter Anne Ines Schoenbrun (Marc) also of Germany. Also to mourn her passing are several nieces, nephews and cousins. Marguerite was a volunteer for many years and in particular she was a volunteer visitor for the Riverdale Hospital in the cancer ward and also for the Toronto East General Hospital from 1971 to just a few years ago after which time she was a founding member of the Community Care East York Seniors' Centre for 27 years. On the day of her death she was honoured to be presented by Toronto Mayor John Tory (on International Women's Day) a certificate of recognition for her service in the Geco Munitions Plant during WWII. She is predeceased by her parents Samuel Brown and Mary Anne (Charlton) Brown, siblings Eliza Kingston, Harvey Brown, Mary Shore, George Brown, Wilmer Brown, Milton Brown, Audrey Vassiloff and James Brown. Family and friends will be received at PINE HILLS CEMETERY & VISITATION CENTRE, 625 Birchmount Rd., Scarborough (north of St. Clair Ave. E., 416-267-8229) on Saturday, March 19 at 10 a.m. followed by a Funeral Service at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, if desired, donations may be made to the Michael Garron Hospital (formerly Toronto East General Hospital).
