Margaret Ruth Rutherford
November 6, 1926 - December 31, 2014
It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Ruth on December 31, 2014 at the age of 88. Lovingly remembered by her son Ken and his wife Holly, daughters-in-law Wendy and Ann, grandsons Burke (Jodi), Chris, Greg and Jamie (Lia) and her sister Marilyn, along with her many nieces and nephews and their extended families. Great grandmother to Megan Ruth, born in November 2014 and a second great grandchild on the way in March 2015. Predeceased by Jack (2004), her cherished husband of 59 years and her beloved sons Bob (2014) and Craig (1998). Ruth was very independent throughout her life, initially supporting her husband Jack in the creation and growth of Toronto Camera and then turning her attention to becoming an accomplished curler and competitive bridge player later in her life. Ruth and Jack enjoyed travelling and loved to entertain friends, family, business acquaintances and staff – whether it was a Grey Cup party in Toronto or the annual Watermelon Open golf tournament at the cottage on Lake Simcoe, or a birthday party with friends in Port Charlotte - a good time was had by all. Always willing to lend a hand to family and friends - those that knew Ruth are so appreciative of the unwavering support and encouragement she provided, in good times and in bad. The family would also like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Houses of Providence for their compassionate care provided over the past year. A celebration of Ruth’s life will be held later in January. Memorial donations in Ruth’s name to the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
