It is with deep love and sorrow that we announce the passing of Margaret Hovinga Madden on Monday, September 22, 2025.
Margaret was the wife of John, and a devoted mother to Mara (Jonathan) and Siobhan (David). She was a cherished Beppe to Skylar, Greta, Lacey, Arwin, and Rowan, who brought her endless joy.
A woman of many talents and passions, Margaret trained and worked as both a nurse and a social worker, serving in hospitals in Ontario and in Holland. She could fly planes, once gave the Prime Minister a tour, and was known for her adventurous spirit. She had a deep love of children and nature, and found joy in flowers, traveling—especially to the Sandbanks. As the family genealogist, Margaret dedicated countless hours to researching and preserving the Hovinga and Madden family histories, ensuring that future generations would know and cherish their heritage.
In place of flowers, donations to Bethell Hospice would be greatly appreciated. The compassionate care Margaret received there, along with the support her family found, is a gift we hope can be extended to others.
