Marcella (Marcie) was born on May 3rd,1946 in New Chelsea, Newfoundland. Despite a difficult childhood, Marcie found comfort and contentment with the love of her dear grandparents in addition to her cousins and siblings in her hometown by the ocean. Marcie always spoke of her love of her birthplace and Newfoundland was never far from her heart.
After moving to Ontario, Marcie found a rewarding career with Jones Gable and RA Daly for many years. She married Lloyd and later welcomed two precious and beautiful sons, Gregory and Jeffery. She loved her boys and devoted herself to being their biggest supporter in everything they did. After they became independent, she decided to work part time at The Bay to fill in time which she enjoyed immensely. Marcie had a spirit and a smile that could light up any room. Her kind heart knew no bounds, and her ability to see the good in everyone she met was truly a remarkable gift.
Marcie was an avid lover of sports, whether it was hockey or baseball. She was especially passionate about watching her own boys play hockey. Marcie developed many friends through work, the arena, time spent at her trailer and volunteering at various fund raisers. Marcie left a lasting legacy of love and kindness no matter where she went.
Marcie’s light dimmed when she lost her older son. Despite the loss, she continued and made a lasting impression for charities supporting grieving parents and the Children’s Make a Wish Foundation.
Marcie was welcomed home by her son, Greg on August 3rh, 2025 after a lengthy battle with PSP (Progressive Supranuclear Palsy) a rare fatal brain disease. She was also predeceased by her brother (Garry), her mother, grandparents and her good friend later in life, Jason.
She will be sadly missed by her son Jeff, her sisters, Diane (Bob), Marilyn (George) and her many cousins in both Ontario and Eastern Coast of Canada. Her nieces and nephews will treasure her memory always and she will be forever missed by her honorary grandsons, Miles and Michael. Her love will live on in those she left behind.
The family would like to thank the staff of Fairview Lodge for their amazing care of Marcie during her time in Heritage Harbor on the 3rd floor.
A private Celebration of Life to be held at a later date.
