Our dad, Man Hong Chan, passed away in his home the morning of April 20, 2016. His family and friends always came first and his lovingly kind, generous and humble spirit will be missed by his children, Gala (Lee) and Dodge (Patti). He adored his four grandchildren Eliza, Ethan, Chase and Tagen. He was a devoted son and the big brother in a close-knit family of 5 siblings, Clifford (Marian), Alice (Dick), James (Patricia), Roger (Gonia) and Martha (Dan). He considered his family and friendships to be his greatest source of happiness.

He had a lifelong passion and talent for soccer and played until his surgery and treatment for mesothelioma a few years ago. He was a health and fitness nut, always encouraging family to go outside, get active, stay mobile and get fresh air. He could run for miles, play basketball, table tennis and enjoyed taking long walks in the park, especially with our mom when she was alive. He took care of family, friends and strangers. He quietly and selflessly helped people and truly expected nothing in return.

Our family is very thankful to his many friends who provided support, care and homemade soups in the last few months and over the years. A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Marc De Perrot and his team at Toronto General's Thoracic Surgery dept and Princess Margaret Hospital.

In lieu of flowers, kindly consider donating instead to the Toronto General Hospital or Princess Margaret Hospital to support cancer research and care. The medical professionals and researchers at these hospitals provided the best of care for our dad and he would want others to have a better chance at a long healthy life.

http://www.thestar.com/news/gta/2014/02/24/revolutionary_toronto_cancer_treatment_gives_asbestos_victims_new_life.html
