Maizie Elizabeth Bradshaw
October 17, 1947 - March 25, 2014
Maizie Elizabeth Bradshaw was born on October 17th, 1947. Her birth took place in St. Ann, Jamaica. She was the daughter of Maud Estelle and Alfred Carter. She was second last of 10 children. Yet she ventured out to Canada in 1967. In 1969 she married the love of and her life, Roy Bradshaw. Her life grew until she became matriarch of many more than Michelle and Sean, her own children.
She learned of motherhood, career, family both immediate and extended, and she excelled in giving her grace and time. Maizie learned of all this and she synthesized it into love. Christenings, weddings, birthday cakes, they were all done with love. Brothers and sister, sisters-in-law, nieces & nephews, extended family and friends, children that were not her own that she helped to raise. She gave of herself, always. Maizie gave example of what love is and who a person could be with it. She proved that when you give love, just for the sake of giving, it is incredible how much love you can receive in return.
"Miss Maizie", "Mama Maizie", "Sister Maizie", "Cousin Maizie", "Auntie Maizie", "Mummy". We all have heard these titles for so long, ringing with such love. On March 25th, 2014, after a lengthy battle with cancer, Maizie quietly passed away at home amongst loved ones.
We should all remember to continue to love one another, and to spread that love in honour of Maizie Elizabeth Bradshaw.
