Mahmoud Fatehvand, joyfully known as Uncle or Amu and sometimes Mo or Frank was born in Tehran, Iran to Mokhtar and Mobubeh Fatehvand. He joined the family of two older brothers Mohamed and Hossein and a sister Latefeh. Three years later he became a big brother when Abraham was born. Family meant everything to Mahmoud and he cared for them ever since he was a child. Some member's of the family say "he was their father's favorite." Later, as an adult his mother became very ill and he put his plans on hold to stay in Iran and care for her.
While living in Iran Mahmoud was in the banking business. Later after settling in Canada he became an entrepreneur and started several businesses including a dollar store and his niece and nephew's favorite a pizza shop. Eventually, he started a garage door sales and service company and grew it into a lucrative business. Mahmoud's success was motivated by his desire to help others. He often sent money back home to help his nieces and nephews. And, he could always be counted on to help his friends in Toronto. You might say he stayed in the banking business in Canada too.
Mahmoud was a strong man in stature and character, but he was also a gentle giant. He had many friends because of his laughter and kindness. He was considerate of everyone and always concerned himself with other's well being. He will be greatly missed by many people. The only comfort for those he left behind is that he is no longer suffering physically. His presence is gone but he will live forever in the hearts of those he touched with his life.
