It is with the greatest sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Matriarch, Mom and Granny, Lyris Una Stewart.
Lyris was born on October 27, 1937, on the beautiful island of Tobago, to her parents, Maggie and Herbert Mark (both predeceased). She lived a life rooted in faith, grace, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Errol Allan Stewart, and her son, Michael Stewart.
She was the loving mother of Patricia, Donna, Marilyn, Allan, Russell, Kenny, Gillian, Christopher, and Roger. She was also a caring stepmother to Sylvina, Sean, and Meloney, and an adopted mother to Peter, Urline, and many others whom she embraced as her own.
Her legacy continues through her 40 grandchildren (2 predeceased), 30 great-grandchildren (3 predeceased), and two great-great-grandchildren. Because of her gentle, loving, and sweet nature, she was not only Mom to her children, but Granny to many whose lives she touched. Though she was lovingly called Mom and Granny, she was truly the heart and foundation of our family.
A woman of deep and unwavering faith, Lyris introduced countless family members and friends to the knowledge of God. She was a dedicated servant of the Lord and was never afraid to share her love for Jesus Christ and the importance of accepting Him as Lord and Savior. Her passion for the things of God was evident in the way she lived, prayed, and encouraged others.
When asked how she was doing, she would so often respond with a warm smile and say, “I am blessed.” Those simple words reflected her grateful heart and her unshakable faith, no matter the circumstance.
We take comfort in the promise of Scripture she held dear:
“To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.” — 2 Corinthians 5:8
On February 13, 2026, she quietly went to be with the Lord. While our hearts are heavy, we rest in the assurance that she is now present with Him.
She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever honored by all who were blessed to call her Mom and Granny.
Forever Loved. Eternally Blessed.
