With deep love and gratitude, we announce the peaceful passing of Lydia Kirubai Sarah Stephen on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at the age of 94. She has gone to her eternal rest and is reunited in heaven with her beloved husband Alex and her son Neil, in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Lydia was a devoted mother, grandmother, and a highly respected educator. She was a much-loved teacher at St. Paul’s Girls’ School, Kelaniya, and also taught at St. Cecilia’s College, Batticaloa; St. Ann’s School, Wattala; and Muslim Ladies College, Colombo. Her dedication, kindness, and quiet strength left a lasting impact on her students and colleagues.
She is lovingly remembered by her children Eugene and Keren Stephen, her daughters-in-law Fathmath and Shamarie and by her cherished grandchildren Dina, Rowena, and Elishia, along with extended family and friends.
While deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing she is now at peace and at rest with Jesus.
