Died on August 12, 2012 at Scarborough General Hospital at the age of 82. Beloved husband of Grace Kelsey (nee Hall), deceased. Loving father of Janice (Mark Harper), Karen (Rob Neill), Elin (Andy Johnson), and Alison (Glen Davies). Lorne loved to learn and believed in the capacity of education to change lives. A consummate professional, he proudly contributed to teaching for 40 years. He went from a one room school house in Doe Lake, Ontario to serving as Principal at Maplewood, Tabor Park and Sir William Osler Vocational Schools, with the former Scarborough Board of Education. Together with Grace, he was a long-time campaigner for the Canadian Cancer Society. He served as past president of the Scarborough branch.
Lorne was a kind, fair, and generous man. He enthusiastically supported the ambitions of his daughters and their families. He had a remarkable ability to create fun and adventure for his grandchildren. He believed in civility and honesty and inspired deep loyalty among all those who loved him.
