Lorne (Whitey) Frederick Clayton
August 17, 1921 - December 16, 2015
With saddened hearts the Clayton family announces the passing of Lorne on December 16, 2015 at 94 years. Beloved husband to the late Elsie (Smith) for 65 years. Loving Father of Wendy (Doug), Cathy (Mario) and the late Susan Clayton. His memory will be cherished by his grandchildren Thomas, Melanie (Don) and his great-grandchildren Katelyn, Emily, Matthew, Jacob and Julia. Predeceased by his sister Elfreda (Robert) Watson, his brothers William (Norine), Gordan (Orral) (Ella), and Morley (Ella).
A University of Toronto graduate in the first Physical Education Program offered, and top player on the Varsity Blues Basketball Team. His career spanned 35 years with Forest Hill Collegiate, first as a Physical Education and Mathematics teacher, and then as Vice-Principal, and Principal. Affectionately known as “Whitey”. He retired in 1981. His passion was golf and he was a long-time member of Richmond Hill Golf & Country Club, and then the Summit Golf & Country Club. A special thank you to Karen, Jogien, Myra, Mildred, Joan and Sharon for their wonderful care.
Friends may call at the YORK VISITATION CENTRE (160 Beecroft Rd., North York (north of Sheppard Ave., west of Yonge St., 416-221-3404) on Sunday, December 20, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. A funeral service will take place on Monday, December 21, 2015 in the Chapel at 11:00 a.m. with interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.
He will be fondly remembered and forever missed.
