ELLINGSON, Lorne Eugene
Unexpectedly in hospital on Sunday, January 15th, 2012 at the age of 66. Born in Edmonton, AB on July 3rd, 1945. Beloved husband of Jane Adair Hamilton. Exceptional father to Chloë and John-Allan. Cherished son-in-law of Tonny Hamilton and Lionel Strange. Lovingly raised by his parents Joe and Muriel and by Granny Fearn. Received B.A. at U. of Alberta, 1966; M.A. Simon Fraser U., 1969; M.A. Manchester U., 1979. Joined Ministries of Finance and External Affairs in the Government of Canada, the World Trade and Merchant Banking Group of the Royal Bank of Canada and Ernst and Young. Lorne was a founding member of Toronto Consultants International and then founded Creative Interactions. The latest phase of Lorne’s rich and varied career was especially fulfilling. He was a professional coach and also taught in the Indigenous Studies department at Trent University. It was in these areas that he found like-spirited communities. Lorne was an avid outdoorsman who loved camping, canoeing and cottaging with his family in the Parry Sound area. He loved using photography as a means of exploring his surroundings. Lorne was a life-long student of Zen Buddhism. Memorial service to be held on May 26th from 1pm to 5pm at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery and Visitation Centre (375 Mount Pleasant Road East Gate entrance) 416-485-5572.
