Lily Chan passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on April 6, 2026, at the age of 83.
She was born in Taishan, China, later moving to Hong Kong before immigrating to Canada in 1965 to marry her beloved husband, Glenn Chan. Together, they built a warm and loving home and shared 59 years of marriage. They cared for one another through every stage of life—when Glenn was strong, he supported her, and when he became ill, she lovingly cared for him. After his passing, Lily continued on with quiet courage and strength.
Throughout her life, Lily was devoted to her family and friends. Her greatest joy was creating a home filled with love, care, and stability. As a mother, she raised four strong, caring, and independent daughters, who grew up inspired by her resilience, kindness, and quiet strength. They, in turn, brought into her life four warm-hearted sons-in-law, whom she embraced as her own sons.
Lily was a wonderful grandmother who delighted in being part of her grandchildren’s everyday lives. She lovingly sewed costumes for school plays—most memorably a pig and a rooster—and she was always ready to hem school pants or steady a bicycle as they learned to ride.
She was also a kind older sister who cared deeply for her brothers and sisters.
She lived simply and quietly, but her kindness and steady presence touched everyone around her. She valued the meaningful friendships she built over the years, especially her enduring bond with Teresa, Winnie, and Irene, whose love and support brought joy and comfort throughout her life.
She was also a cherished sister-in-law, aunt, and cousin, grateful for the many relationships that enriched her life.
In her later years, she experienced heart issues, yet she continued to meet each day with resilience and grace. She overcame several serious illnesses, but in her final days, her body gently told her it was time to rest. She passed away peacefully.
Lily is survived by her daughters Glenda (Peter), Brenda (Dave), Bonnie (Bill), and Angela (Chris).
She was a proud grandmother to Michael (Lily), Richard (Joo), Ella, Dylan, Sarah, Samantha, Alex, and Emily.
She was a loving sister to Richard (Barb), Mary (the late Allan), Tom (Julie), Sue (Keith), and Jim (Kathy).
We take comfort in knowing she is now reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Glenn, and welcomed by the many relatives who went before her. She will be remembered with deep love and gratitude for the life she shared with her family.
