Lillian Grace Pascoe completed her life journey peacefully, surrounded by her family on October 2, 2025.
Born in Bangalore, India to Iris Riggs-Long (née Rooney) and Cyril Riggs-Long, Lillian grew up alongside her siblings Esmond, Ivor, Evonne, Vivien and Gwendoline. When she was seven her father died, and Lillian and her siblings were raised by their mother.
Educated by Catholic Loreto nuns in Kolkata and the hill-station of Shimla, in the foothills of the Himalayas, she developed a life-long passion for sports, playing netball, basketball and becoming “sports girl of the year.”
Lillian met the love of her life and future husband, Tom Pascoe, while crossing the Atlantic Ocean on the R.M.S. Ascania. It would be the beginning of their love story and the first of many adventures together.
After marrying in London, England and settling in Scarborough, Ontario, Lillian and Tom welcomed their daughter, Laura. Working as a hairdresser, Lillian owned and operated the Fair Lady Beauty Salon on Markham Road. She excelled at the domestic arts.
Later, she became a public servant where she put her excellent math skills to good use and was a proud member of the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC).
Tom and Lillian travelled the world, visiting five continents. They spent seventeen winters in Portugal, making good friends, visiting fishing villages and attending Fado festivals. Lillian became an exceptional first mate to Captain Tom on their sailboat Satin Doll, conquering her fear of water and visiting the ports of Lake Ontario.
Lillian was active throughout her life, maintaining her sense of wonder and her fun-loving, playful spirit. Above all else, she cherished her relationships with her family. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Gone on the wings of love, Lillian’s memory is cherished by her husband of sixty-nine years, Tom. She is dearly missed by her daughter Laura and son-in-law Dan, her grandson André and partner Francis, her granddaughter Madeleine and partner Luke.
She is also missed by her sisters-in-law Elinor and Heather, brothers-in-law Jerry and Dave, the Middlecoat and Richmond families, her nieces, nephews, neighbours and friends.
Lillian’s family would like to thank the many healthcare workers who cared for her including Dr. Anthony Naassan and her dedicated personal support workers Anna Lee, Serha, Arlene, Viva, Julia and Pamela.
Lillian’s celebration of life will take place at the Simple Alternative in Pickering on Saturday October 18, 2025. Visitation at 1 pm. Service at 2 pm, followed by a reception.
The family invites anyone wishing to donate in Lillian’s name to contribute to the Abilities Centre in Whitby or Lakeridge Health hospital in Oshawa.
