Ligaya Abul
January 27, 1947 - October 31, 2015
Ligaya “Aya” or “Liit” Abul passed away at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, on Saturday October 31 after a long battle with cancer at the age of 68.
Ligaya is survived by her sisters Lita, Mena, Ning, and Cora, her children Anne Marie Joyce and Michael, and her grandchildren Royce, Kingston, Nyah and Joaquin.
Ligaya was born on January 27, 1947 in Aliaga, Nueva Ecija to Gregorio and Bernarda Abul. Ligaya graduated from Manila Central University with a degree in Optometry, and moved to Canada on May 8, 1973. Her children remember her as a loving mother who encouraged them to pursue their goals.
Ligaya lived life to the fullest, and is remembered for her warm smile and her hearty laugh. She enjoyed games of chance, but often put the needs of others before her own. She was a very generous individual who was passionate with helping those less fortunate, and during her life, helped many friends and family members with their educational costs.
A funeral viewing is scheduled for Friday November 6, at Pine Hills Cemetery. There will also be a visitation on Saturday November 7 at 1pm, followed by a service at 2pm. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Ligaya’s life.
The family would like to thank the staff at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto for all that they have done.
