It is with great sadness to share that Angelina Mui-Mui Leung, passed away peacefully at 84 years old, on June 26, 2025, in Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada. She leaves behind her beloved husband and soulmate Leung Kar Chuen and a recent milestone of 59 years of marriage.
Born Mak Mui-Mui on December 30, 1940, in Hong Kong, she met Leung Kar Chuen, affectionally known as K.C. or just Kar through a mutual friend in Hong Kong. After a period of romance and dating they were married on June 4th, 1966, in Kowloon, Hong Kong.
Angelina is survived by her loving sons Patrick, Alan and Ivan, daughters-in-law Daniela, Abby and grandchildren Nathalie and Adam.
Angelina and Kar made the brave decision to depart Hong Kong and journey overseas to Canada to pave the way for a better future for their growing family. Angelina and Kar immigrated to Canada with their newborn son Patrick through Vancouver and eventually settled in Toronto on April 26, 1968, where she later gave birth to her two other sons, Alan and Ivan.
As new immigrants, Angelina and Kar persevered through all the hurdles, challenges and obstacles to create a safe, loving and nurturing environment for their young children to thrive, and the opportunity to grow to be the successful adults that they are today.
To that end, Angelina worked for numerous decades as a loyal employee of Canada Post with grueling hours and evening shifts to make ends meet for the family. She would tirelessly walk the children six times each day from home to school for many kilometers, in the morning, over lunchtime and at the end of the school day while preparing dinner for the family before heading out to work the evening shift.
Angelina was the matriarch of the Leung family always planning and organizing family events and gatherings, the proverbial glue for the Leung clan; and she never disappointed with her infamous potato/apple salad at the family BBQs. To the very end, Angelina never failed to call and speak to each of the family members ensuring everyone was doing well, telling them to dress accordingly for the inclement weather and always be safe; it became a ritual and part of her daily routine which we will all miss...
With her lively spirit and overwhelmingly optimistic outlook in life, Angelina’s bubbly personality created lifelong relationships, friendships and bonds that continue to this day and onwards into the coming years. She would always be the one to proactively initiate conversations with everyone without hesitation; in another life, Angelina would be the ultimate salesperson and win the gold medal as the world’s best schmoozer.
In later years, when her sons succeeded in their academics and careers, Angelina could finally relax and start to enjoy the wonderful things with Kar that life had to offer. Angelina was very active with swimming, aqua aerobics, Tai Chi and least we forget the many years of ballroom dancing with the weekly dances at the Bob Rumball Centre.
Angelina never forgot to allocate enough family time in her later years, even after retirement. She entertained her sons with many memorable evenings with serenades of popular classical and Cantopop Karaoke songs from Jennie Tseng and Faye Wong. Angelina and Kar taught and spent countless hours playing Mahjong at the behest of her Grandchildren Nathalie and Adam.
Travel and worldly exploration became a huge aspect of their lives. Angelina and Kar were blessed to enjoy and share lasting memories through all their beautiful pictures that family and friends can experience vicariously for many years to come; from their many excursions from the far east throughout Hong Kong, China, Thailand and Japan to European trips in France and Italy to remote destinations in Iceland and Yellowknife to see the aurora borealis (Northern Lights) and breathtaking cruises to Alaska and Chile/Falkland Islands.
Angelina leaves behind a legacy that many will aspire to attain and mimic. A loving Wife, a doting Mother and wise Grandmother; Angelina will be immeasurably missed, and a void has been left behind.
