Kyung Soon “Sandy” Lee, 81, passed away on November 20, 2025, surrounded by the family she loved so deeply. Born on March 1, 1944, in South Korea, Kyung Soon lived a life defined by sacrifice, courage, discipline, loyalty, generosity, and unwavering devotion to her loved ones. She was a woman of excellence and honour with a deep faith in God.

She grew up in the countryside of Buyeo County, South Chungcheong Province, South Korea, before moving to Seoul as a young woman to work as a nurse. From an early age, her selflessness and determination were evident. She helped her parents and younger siblings find new opportunities, always putting their needs before her own.

With the help of her oldest brother, Bong Keun Shin, Kyung Soon and her husband, Young Soo, immigrated to Canada in 1975. They arrived with only a few hundred dollars and a hopeful heart. She often recalled looking out the airplane window and seeing the green fields below, arranged in neat squares, and thinking how beautiful they were. She loved Canada from the moment she arrived and was grateful for the opportunities it offered her family.

Kyung Soon and her husband Young Soo made their home in Toronto, then Orillia and later Vaughan, Ontario. For 26 years, she poured her energy and discipline into running her convenience store. She had a keen business sense and valued the importance of hard-earned money. She was careful, practical, and never frivolous, yet generous in the ways that truly mattered. She kept her store spotless, fully stocked, and welcoming. Her customers loved her not just for the service she provided, but for her warmth, kindness, and genuine interest in their lives.

Kyung Soon’s greatest passions were her family and devotion to God. She dedicated herself entirely to her husband and children, balancing long workdays with family dinners and quality moments. Her daily prayers for her children and grandchildren persisted until her last moment. She was also a gracious hostess, always welcoming guests into her home with plenty of food and warmth. Her profound love for her children has extended to the next generation. Through her love and dedication, both of her children became committed followers of Christ, just as she was.

Kyung Soon enjoyed staying active and being outdoors. She loved aqua fit, daily walks, nature, and flowers, finding peace and joy in simple pleasures. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved telling stories; her infectious laughter and friendly spirit made people feel cared for. She prayed often and drew strength from her faith, which was a constant comfort throughout her life.

Kyung Soon is survived by her husband, Young Soo Lee, her children Erica Rim and Elizabeth Lee, her grandchildren Jonathan Rim, Beatrice Lee, and Bennett Lee, her sons-in-law, John Rim and Joshua Sayah Lee and her siblings Bong Keun Shin, Hyuk Keun Shin, Kyung Nan Stokan and Hyung Keun Shin. She will be remembered for her sacrificial nature and deep love for her family.
Everyone who knew Sandy loved her. She leaves a legacy of excellence, love, and faith that will continue to inspire her family and all who were blessed to know her.

충청남도 부여군에서 성장하신 고인은 젊은 시절 서울로 올라가 간호사로 일하기 시작하셨습니다. 어린 시절부터 남을 먼저 생각하는 마음과 강한 의지로 가족들을 돌보셨으며, 부모님과 동생들이 더 나은 기회를 가질 수 있도록 늘 앞장서셨습니다.

장남 신봉근님의 도움으로, 남편 이영수님과 함께 1975년 캐나다로 이민을 오셨습니다. 몇백 달러와 희망만을 안고 도착한 캐나다의 초록 들판을 비행기 창밖으로 바라보며, 얼마나 아름답고 새로운 시작인지 감탄하셨다고 회상하셨습니다. 캐나다에 도착한 순간부터 이 땅을 사랑하셨고, 가족에게 주어진 기회에 늘 감사하셨습니다.

토론토, 오릴리아, 이후에는 온타리오주 본에서 가정을 꾸리셨습니다. 26년 동안 근면과 절제로 편의점을 운영하시며, 성실하게 사업을 일구셨습니다. 돈의 소중함을 잘 아셨고, 늘 실용적이고 검소하게 살면서도, 필요한 곳에는 아낌없이 베푸셨습니다. 매장을 항상 깨끗하고 환하게 유지하셨고, 고객 한 분 한 분을 진심으로 대하며 따뜻함과 친절로 사랑받으셨습니다.

가장 큰 열정은 가족과 신앙이었습니다. 남편과 자녀들을 위해 헌신하며, 긴 근무 후에도 가족 식사와 소중한 시간을 소홀히 하지 않으셨습니다. 자녀와 손주를 위한 기도는 마지막 순간까지 이어졌습니다. 또한 손님을 반갑게 맞이하고 풍성한 음식과 온기로 집을 채우는 자상한 주인이셨습니다. 자녀에 대한 깊은 사랑은 다음 세대로 이어져, 두 딸 모두 어머니의 신앙을 본받아 그리스도를 따르는 삶을 살고 있습니다.

신체를 단련하고 자연을 즐기는 것도 좋아하셨습니다. 아쿠아핏과 매일 산책, 자연과 꽃을 사랑하시며 소박한 기쁨에서 평화와 행복을 찾으셨습니다. 유머 감각이 뛰어나 이야기 나누기를 좋아하셨고, 환한 웃음과 다정한 마음으로 모두를 편안하게 해주셨습니다. 기도로 삶의 힘을 얻으시며, 신앙은 언제나 큰 위로와 힘이었습니다.

고인은 남편 이영수, 두 딸 이은주, 이 엘리자베스 와 손주 임태호, 이희윤, 이성윤, 사위 임헌준, 이사야 그리고 형제자매 신봉근, 신혁근, 신경란, 신형근을 남기셨습니다. 가족을 위한 끝없는 희생과 사랑으로 오래 기억될 것입니다.
