It is with overwhelming sadness we announce the passing of Lee Andrew Ferguson on March 13, 2025 at the age of 44. He passed peacefully at Oak Ridges Hospice of Durham in Port Perry, Ontario. Lee’s battle with cancer (Myxoid Liposarcoma) was a long one that he fought with courage, strength, and optimism until the end.
Lee was an avid sports fan, baseball in particular, and a huge Toronto Blue Jays fan. Lee played baseball from a very young age (thanks to his dad’s love of the sport), all the way through college. He enjoyed sharing his love of baseball with his children, Caleigh and Declan, and was their biggest fan when they started to play.
Lee enjoyed cooking and the challenge of learning a new recipe or recreating one that had been passed on by family members. Weather it was making Nanny’s corn chowder, Hungarian cabbage rolls, homemade pizza for his kids, or a batch of cookies, Lee was a great chef.
Lee was a traveler too, this love came from his mom Lynda, and it didn’t hurt that she was a travel agent too. He got to visit many places but Scotland was one of his favourites. Lee also went on a number of baseball road trips with his best friend Brian. Watching the Blue Jays play at different ball diamonds in the States while enjoying all the great food that was offered locally. Lee took his family on an amazing trip out West two years ago where they all made lasting memories together.
One of Lee’s hobbies was researching his ancestry. He had done a lot of research over the years and created an impressive family tree that went back may generations.
Lee has known his wife, Jennifer, his whole life, as the two families were friends through their dads work. As they got older, they lost contact with each other, but reconnected through Facebook. The two hit it off instantly, getting married in April 2010, and starting a beautiful family shortly after. Lee enjoyed family nights with Caleigh, Declan, and Jen, watching movies or the ball game, and making his famous pizza.
Lee is predeceased by his child, Mackenzie; grandparents, Raymond and Margaret (nee Coughlin), Delmar and Theresa (nee Goyetche); uncles, Del, and Vern. Lee is survived by his children, Caleigh and Declan; wife, Jennifer (nee Nelson); his parents, Carl and Lynda (nee Ivy); his brother, Graham; and nieces, Kennedy and Aubree.
Lee will be so greatly missed by his family, extended family, and friends. Lee will be remembered for his optimistic outlook on life; love of his children, wife, and family; love of baseball; hard working demeanor; his friendliness; and amazing sense of humour.
A celebration of life for Lee will be held at a date to be announced in the near future.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Mount Sinai Hospital, or Princess Margaret Hospital.
