"Keith" Wing Kwong Lo
December 14, 1961 - July 20, 2015
“Keith” Wing Kwong Lo passed away peacefully on Monday, July 20, 2015 at age 53 after a very brief but intense battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife Mia, and children, Ashley (20), Brandon (17), and Ethan (11).
Keith was born in Hong Kong on December 14, 1961, the youngest child of the late Lo Sau Cheung and Wong Choy Chu. He is survived by his siblings Mee Chun, David, Peggy, Cindy and Kitty.
Keith came to Canada to study at the University of Toronto. After graduating with a degree in computer and actuarial sciences, Keith began what became a fulfilling career as an IT specialist. Through a mutual friend at university, Keith was introduced to his future wife and on October 20, 1990 Keith and Mia were married. They would have celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary this year.
Never one to be the center of attention, Keith valued the simple things in life. A loving husband and devoted father, Keith was an excellent cook who enjoyed making dinners in his home in Richmond Hill for his family and friends. Keith also loved the great outdoors and his passion for fishing and camping led to many special family outings exploring nature that his children cherish. They will also never forget the many lessons their dad passed on, particularly advice on dealing with every day situations and growing up.
To Keith, family vacations were among the most important ways to create and share memories for the children. Trips with extended family and friends to New York, California, Hawaii, Hong Kong, Florida and the Bahamas were among the most treasured.
In mid-July, Keith was admitted to the hospital with severe back pain. Doctors performed emergency surgery. Keith was determined to fight the illness, to stay strong for his family. However, days later, doctors officially confirmed that Keith had an aggressive form of cancer that was virtually untreatable. With great courage, he accepted the outcome and spent his precious few and final days, with his beloved wife and children at his bedside.
A memorial service “A Celebration of Life” for Keith will be held on Wednesday July 29, 2015 at Elgin Mills Visitation Centre, located at 1591 Elgin Mills Road East, Richmond Hill, Ontario. The family will be receiving visitors from 1 – 2pm. The ceremony will begin at 2pm with a reception to follow from 3 – 5pm.
