Keith Gordon Beveridge, aged 79, passed away peacefully in Toronto surrounded by his loved ones. He inspired belief and courage in all who knew him, encouraging them to be and do more than they thought possible. He had the rare gift of making you feel both seen and important. His warm smile, quick humour, and keen intellect — shaped by a lifetime of wide reading — will be dearly missed by family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.
Born in England, Keith’s journey spanned continents — from his childhood in Scotland to his family’s immigration to Zimbabwe. He studied in South Africa and the UK, worked in Zambia, where he met Maria, and ultimately made Canada his home. After several years in Canada, he spent a decade living in Hong Kong with his family before returning to Toronto to retire. His career as an HR executive reflected his natural gift for connecting with people and ensuring they felt seen, heard, and understood.
Keith lived a life defined by adventure, travel, and empathy. A worldly man with a generous spirit, he was a loyal friend and a voice for the voiceless. He loved music, rugby, politics, and never missed an opportunity to dance, especially with Maria. His charitable work included dedicated service on the St. Andrew’s Society Grants Committee and steadfast support of Ripple, an initiative that helps privately sponsor refugees as they begin their new lives in Canada.
Keith is lovingly remembered by his wife Maria; his son, Andrew; his daughter, Elena Fordham; his son-in-law, Matthew; his grandsons, Charles (Charlie) and Everett. He will be dearly missed by his brother, Ian (Anni), and his sister-in-law, Irene Perelli; his brother-in-law Edward Barreto; his nieces and nephew, and family around the world. Keith's legacy of kindness, generosity, and compassion will live on in all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A celebration of Keith’s life will be held on Saturday, April 18th, at North York Funeral Home. The service will begin at 2 p.m. and will be livestreamed for those unable to attend in person. In lieu of flowers, please consider supporting one of three charities Keith cared about, which are found in the Donation link at the top right of this webpage.
