馮趙錦琼 Kam King Fung
December 16, 1904 - September 8, 2012
Kam King Fung passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at Markham Stouffville Hospital. Family surrounded her bedside.
She was born December 16th, 1904 in Canton China -- the last of eight children. Being the youngest in her family, her siblings spoiled her. She was carried around everywhere until she was five years old. People thought she was crippled because her feet never touched the ground. But one day when no one was around to carry her, she got up and started to walk. She shocked everyone. Kam King loved telling this story to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Kam King was extremely gifted with her hands. As a young girl, she was well known in her village for being a talented seamstress and paper art decorator. When weddings were being celebrated, she was hired by brides to sew their gowns and make paper art designs which decorated dinner tables. Her steady hands remained with her until she was 100 years old. Even then, she was able to thread a needle with one fell swoop.
To really sum it up, Kam King was a woman of wisdom, determination, courage, strength and love. What she enjoyed doing most was engaging with her family and friends.
Today she is in heaven, happily catching up with all the loved ones who passed before her. Kam King loved to share a good story -- and she had many with 109 years on this earth.
She leaves behind three grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and even one great-great-grandchild.
Although she will be dearly missed by family and friends, Kam King Fung left behind a lasting impression. Her legacy will continue and be celebrated by her loved ones for generations.
