With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Kai Kwen Kwan on September 10, 2025, at the age of 86. Born in China on June 28, 1939, Kai Kwen lived a life marked by devotion, humility, and quiet strength.

Kai Kwen was the loving husband of Oi Che Kwan, his soulmate and life partner. Her passing earlier this year left a profound void in his heart, and he was never able to fully overcome the grief of losing her. Their bond was deep and enduring, built on love, respect, and shared dreams.

After immigrating to Canada, Kai Kwen dedicated himself to his family and community. He was known for his generosity, always willing to help others without hesitation. His garden was his sanctuary—a place where he found peace and joy in nurturing life. He took great pride in tending to his plants, and his green thumb was a reflection of his gentle spirit and patience. Gardening was not just a hobby for him; it was a way of expressing care, cultivating beauty, and staying connected to nature.

Kai Kwen was a devoted father to David Kwan and William Kwan, and a beloved father-in-law to Paula Kwan and Anita Kwan. He was also a proud grandfather to Lauren, Matthew, and Seth, who brought him endless joy and pride.

He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him. His life was a quiet testament to the power of love, family, and resilience.

Details for visitation and funeral services will be shared with family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a charity or organization of your choice, in honor of Kai Kwen Kwan’s memory.
