June was called home to glory on December 13, 2025, at the age of 97. Beloved wife of Gayle. Predeceased by her father Alex Hutchison, mother Ethel (née Kitching), and brothers Craig (Marilyn) and Douglas (Ina). Mother to Bob, Kathie (Denis), Janice (Carl), and Sharon (Paul). Grandmother to 14 and great-grandmother to 21.
June was born in Toronto on June 3, 1928. She lived on Ardmore Road until she was six years old, moved to Bingham Avenue until she was eight, and moved to Strathmore Boulevard, where they lived until 1946. In 1946, she moved to Lawson Road, a street which would inevitably hold deep roots for her and generations to follow.
June attended Midland Avenue Public School for grades 1-2, Adam Beck School for grades 3-4, Earl Beatty Public School for grades 5-8, followed by Eastern Commerce Collegiate Institute until grade 12. She and Gayle were introduced by a friend in Grade 9, and after several years together they were married on September 9, 1950, at the Guild Inn. She worked as a legal secretary until her son Bob was born. She shared close relationships with family throughout her life, growing up on Lawson Road surrounded by beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins. Gayle and June raised their family in the home Gayle built for them, on Lawson Road. They lived in their home from 1951 until 2022.
June fastidiously kept a ‘Birthday Book’ and never missed a birthday or an opportunity to share her love with her family and friends. She always strived to stay connected to those she held dear and expressed how blessed she was to be surrounded by her loving family. She loved paper tole work, knitting, rug hooking, doll making and other arts too numerous to count. Gayle and June enjoyed many months in their holiday home in Apopka, Florida.
She was endlessly patient, kind, steadfast, faithful, generous, and loving…her influence in all of our lives is immeasurable. Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma, how thankful we are to have loved you and been loved by you.
In the sweet by and by,
We shall meet on that beautiful shore.
