Most people knew him as Joe. He passed away peacefully on October 29, 2025 : at Markham Stouffville Hospital at the age of 75.
Born on November 15, 1949, in Hong Kong, he made Toronto his home in the early 70’s where he built a long career with The Toronto Sun. He also served as a director on his condominium board, taking an active role in the community.
Joseph is survived by his wife Winnie.

Siblings and extended families: Miu Ling, Peter, Mary, Ellen, Mimi, Janet & 17 nieces and nephews.
He is reunited with his parents Cheung Tat Choi, Cheung Kwok Ying and sisters Heung Ling, Yuen Ling, Hok Ling, Helen & Julia.
He had a lifelong fascination with technology and a special love for all things Macintosh and Apple. He enjoyed fishing and had a passion for photography and looking back at all the photos that we are privileged to have: not many include him because he was the one behind the camera lens. His Christian faith was also an important part of his life.
Though his relationships and life’s journey were complex, Joseph’s story is one of perseverance and dedication to his work, his interests, and his faith. He will be remembered.
His children have decided on a private family ceremony. Thank you, for all your thoughts and prayers.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Myasthenia gravis foundation.
