In Loving Memory of Josefina Giancarello (Pepa)

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Josefina Giancarello, affectionately known as Pepa, who left us peacefully on July 6, 2025. Born in the city of Valparaíso, Chile, on July 26, 1928, to Jose Giancarello and Maria Cotroneo. She had her brother Tito and sister Adriana. Pepa graced the world with her warmth and spirit for 96 years.

Pepa was a devoted mother to her two sons, Jose Luis and Luis Miguel, and a cherished mother-in-law to Zully and Gaby. Her love extended to her four grandsons: Luis (Chris), Miguel (Jen), Marco (Christine), and Giancarlo (Lara), and she adored her four great grandchildren: Maxi, Luca, Rio, and Lola. Each of them held a special place in her heart.

As a remarkable teacher, Pepa inspired countless students with her passion for knowledge and her unwavering dedication. Her love for the arts shone brightly in her enjoyment of movies and her incredible talent as an actress. Pepa’s heart resonated with the melodies of opera, filling her life with beauty and expression.

Above all, Pepa had a gift for connecting with people. Her warm smile and joyful spirit spread happiness wherever she went, making everyone around her feel cherished and valued. She leaves behind a legacy of love, joy, and kindness that will continue to inspire all who knew her.

Pepa, you will be deeply missed, but your spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved you. Thank you for the love, laughter, and countless beautiful memories. Rest in peace.

My beloved Miss Pepita, you were my fourth-grade teacher, back in 1970, in Lima, Peru. I still remember you—as if it were yesterday—with the greatest affection and gratitude. You were our best teacher ever; you taught us with love, with patience, with a loving approach… you left a mark on all your students. You also taught us how to sing our first English songs!!
You cared for each of us as if we were your own children. Today, from the bottom of my heart, I say thank you very much. I will never forget you.
With love, Rossana
