With broken hearts we must inform you of the tragic loss of Jonas Mitchell.
Jonas, 36 years young, was born and raised in Ottawa. Jonas has lived in Toronto the past four years. With wanderlust in his heart he has lived in Orlando, Laval, Vancouver and Charlottetown and has travelled to as many cities and countries as he could fit into his shortened life.
Jonas was struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle to work on May 15, 2018 and passed away from severe injuries on June 8, 2018.
Cherished son of ‘Momzie’, Judy MacDonald and ‘Pops’, George ‘Mitch’ Mitchell and step-parents Josee Mitchell and Glen Campbell.
Beloved grandson of Leona and Stewart MacDonald; Anita and David Mitchell. Jonas adored his grandparents and had honoured each with uniquely designed and personal tribute tattoos.
Loving nephew of Steve, David and Heather Mitchell, and, Stewart, Donna, Glenn, Mary and Darlene MacDonald (loving Godmother).
Jonas will be dearly missed by his loving family, including step-brother Cody Campbell and his family: Zephania, Nathaniel and Cameron; step-sister Samantha Larocque and her son Kane; and his cousins and their families: Tyler, Amanda and Isabelle; Jeremy and Jessica; Christopher and Melanie; Candice and Troy; Sondra and Joel; Sean and Ellie; Caitlin and Mark; Elizabeth; Stephanie and Mike.
Jonas had an extended family of loved ones that include but are in no particular order: Rob, Donna and the McEvoy family; Anita, Dayna, Cheryl and family; Holly and Nigel Waltho; Stéphanie et famille Parenteau; Pat Thom and the Montanaro and Campbell families; Sandy, Annslea and Zach; Kris and the McCarvil family; Kurt, Dave(s), Travis, Paolo, Jamie(s), Sarah, Liam, Keith, Ryan, and all his Disney ‘No Ma’am’ buddies and Canadian girls; Roomie Katie; Carly, Brittany, Amy .... just to name a few.
Jonas’ life was enriched by many good friends within his Dovercourt, Baton Rouge, Camp Howdy, Westjet, Canoe and Jump families.
Our sincere gratitude goes out to Jonas’ angels of May 15th Ashley and Jacqui, and, to the nurses and doctors at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto. Also, our thanks to the Metropolitan United Church and Rev. Dr. G. Malcolm Sinclair, and to the Toronto Police.
Funeral services will be held on July 6, 2018 (Jonas’ 37th b-day) at the Bells Corners United Church, located at 3955 Old Richmond Road in Ottawa, Ontario. Visitation at 1:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m., and a reception will follow.
A celebration of Jonas’ life will take place at 7:30 p.m. on July 6th at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 351 in the members’ lounge. Located at 330 Kent St., Ottawa, Ontario. We look forward to sharing stories and music with you.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jonas’ honour to St. Michael’s Hospital (30 Bond St. Toronto, Ontario, M58 1W5) and/or Metropolitan United Church (56 Queen St. East, Toronto, Ontario M5C 2Z3). Thank you.
