JOHN KENNETH DOUGLAS RICHARDSON (DOUG)
It is with deep sadness our family announces the passing of a greatly loved man, Doug Richardson, age 81, on March 24, 2013. Youngest son of Robert and Kathleen Richardson, he was predeceased by his brother Donald and loving wife of 56 years, Joanne. Doug is survived by his beloved children, Lynda Petrie, David (Karen), Geoffrey (Michele), his wonderful grandchildren, Alison, Trish, Alexx, Ryan, Matthew, Jordan, Sara, and Bryce, nephews John and Jamie, nieces Janet and Jennifer. Doug grew up on Castlefield Avenue in North Toronto and attended Allenby Public School, Lawrence Park Collegiate and University of Toronto Engineering and Business schools. Doug’s life was a series of challenges and accomplishments; contracting and beating Polio at 15, graduating from University, and the trials and tribulations of starting and running a business. He joined Young Presidents Organization at 39, graduated to XPO and continued meeting with his XPO friend’s until recent times. Doug was passionate about Fiberglass and Precisioneering Ltd., the Company he started in 1964. Doug loved barbecuing for Sunday night family dinners, cottage life, fishing, traveling (never got to Japan or Australia), reading, gardening, games, dining out, theatre, winters in Florida with visits from his family, and spending time with his grandchildren. Doug loved life and had no regrets. Friends will be received at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery Visitation Centre, 375 Mount Pleasant Road, (east gate entrance, south of Merton and north of St. Clair Ave., 416-485-5572) on Wednesday, March 27 from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 P.M.
