It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of John Dolstra on
July 4th, 2026, after a courageous battle with diabetes.
He is loved and survived by his wife of 27 years, Beverley Dolstra (nee
Pascoe), son Warren Dolstra (Ashley), daughter Deanna Dolstra
[Stephen) and his grandchildren, Olivia, Eric, Tessa and Aerielle. Brother
to Brant, predeceased by his brother Egbert, and brother to sisters Dina
and Tina.
John will be remembered for his devoted love for his community. He
served as a Whitby Town Counsellor for the Centre Ward, a trustee for
the Durham Board of Education and was instrumental in the dedication
of the Highway for Heroes plaque that was placed on the Brock Street
bridge over the highway 401. John retired from General Motors after
many years of service.
The family would like to give their thanks to Lakeridge Health Oshawa
Hospital, especially the ICU unit. They went out of their way to make
things easier for the family in this difficult time. The compassion and
empathy that was shown to Beverley went above and beyond the call of
duty.
The family would like donations made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or to Lakeridge Health Oshawa ICU unit in lieu of flowers.
The Family will be holding a private service at Thornton Cemetery in Oshawa.
