Johann Haug
April 24, 1936 - February 14, 2015
Johann (John) Georg Haug, faithful husband, exemplary father, loving grandfather, pioneer missionary, caring pastor, and an amazing “jack-of-all-trades” traveled (final safari) to his Heavenly reward on Saturday, February 14, 2015 in Shepherd Lodge. He was 78.
Johann was born in Neudorf, Yugoslavia on April 24, 1936, to Michael and Magdalena Haug. As WWII broke out in their area the family fled their home and immigrated to Germany. It was here that he found the Love-of-his-Life, Irmgard, and they were married in 1957. Shortly thereafter, they immigrated to Canada and settled in Montreal where they connected with the Deutsche Missionsgemeinde, becoming active members after they were baptized in water. Johann became the youth leader and then was invited to be their Pastor in 1963. The highlight of their lives was when Joyce was added to the family in 1965 and Mark John the following year. In 1968 this young family moved to Tanzania following a strong sense of God’s leading. They served their Lord and church in Africa until Johann’s sudden illness in August of 1982 which led them back to Canada where they settled in Scarborough and became an active part of Warden Full Gospel Assembly (WFGA). The church in Montreal called Johann and Irmgard back to Pastor the assembly in 1987 and they served them gladly and faithfully until 1997. After this they returned to Scarborough where Johann served on staff at WFGA until his retirement.
Johann will be remembered for his smile and his habit of treating everyone with kindness and respect. No one was a stranger around Johann for long.
He is fondly remembered and the memories cherished by his wife, Irmgard, his daughter, Joyce and her daughter Sarah, along with his son, Mark and his wife, Donna, and their children Esther, Jonathan, and Jesse. Johann is also fondly remembered by his two sisters, Hermine Nonn and Resi Herrman who are both living in Germany.
A memorial service will be held at Warden Full Gospel Assembly (2210 Warden Ave. Scarborough, ON) at 1:00PM on Wednesday, February 18th. Friends and guests can attend the viewing starting at 12:00PM till the service begins. Following the service, a luncheon will be provided at the Church.
The family will be going privately to the interment following the service and returning for the luncheon.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family has requested that donations be sent to PAOC Mission Link.
