JOANNA (JOEY) SUSAN WILLIAMS
(1958 - 2013)
It is with great sadness that we share the news that Joey died suddenly on Monday March 11th. We will very much miss her loving, family- oriented sparkle and strong religious outlook. Born and raised in Toronto, Joey was a very energetic and dedicated teacher for 30 years in the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board. 'Miss Williams' complemented this commitment with her passion for coaching her school teams and her joy in their successes. In the last few years she was a Special Education Resource Teacher within Bishop Scalabrini School in Mississauga. Her students greatly benefited from Joey's supportive nature and very active classes. She was touched by and loved each one of 'her children'.
Joey leaves behind her very loving mother Aurea, sisters Anne (Jan Rzyzora) and Sheila (Andries van der Merwe), brothers Mike (Janet) and Andy (Mary Jo), and 11 nieces and nephews: Deborah (Kevin), Andrea, Matthew, Simon, Chris (Amanda), Trevor, Pamela, Jake, Kathleen, Stephanie and Megan. Joey was predeceased by her father, Peter, and sadly her sisters Deborah, Pamela and brother, Ian. Joey will also be greatly missed by our extended family that reaches England and South Africa.
Joey's funeral will be held on Monday March 18 at St Dominic's Roman Catholic Church located at 625 Atwater Ave (Corner of Cawthra Rd and just north of Lakeshore Rd East in Port Credit) at 11am. Visitation will be held the day before on Sunday March 17 from 4 to 7 pm at Mount Pleasant Cemetery Visitation Centre at 375 Mount Pleasant Road. In lieu of flowers, we suggest you make a donation to the charity of your choice, perhaps remembering Joey's strong commitment to children.
