It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Joan Villanueva. Born on August 12, 1970 in Manila, Philippines, she entered eternal rest on September 23, 2025 in Mississauga, Ontario, surrounded by her loving family. With unwavering hope and an unbreakable spirit, Joan fought until her very last moments. She is now reunited in Heaven with her beloved father, the late Celso Villanueva.

Joan was a loving mother to her three children, Kimberly (Andrew), Ashley, and Zara. Beloved daughter of Florentina Howe and the late Celso Villanueva. Cherished by her two brothers, Jonathan (Analee) and Joel (Sharon). Adored by her nephews/niece, Anthony (Patricia), Christian, and Abigail. She will also be deeply missed by her cuddly corgi companion, Mocha.

Joan was an extraordinary woman, known for her warmth, resilience, and her beautiful smile, capable of lighting up any room. At 19, she courageously immigrated to Canada and sponsored the rest of her family, ultimately sacrificing her own education for a better life and greater opportunities. A natural born leader, she managed several employees day-to-day and raised three children as a single mother. Joan was an excellent cook and like her father, had a brilliant mind for numbers. She loved life’s simple joys – morning coffee runs, watching movies with her family, tending to her house plants, and snuggling with her pet, Mocha. A kind and generous soul, Joan welcomed everyone into her home with open arms.

Though she is no longer with us, her warm presence, beautiful smile, and incredible sacrifice will forever be remembered by her family. Her memory will be honoured at Meadowvale Funeral Centre with visitation on October 10, 2025 from 4-8 pm and a funeral service on October 11, 2025 at 10:30 am.
